Letter from the Principal

To the parent/guardian(s) of an amazing Summit County student:

Would your child benefit from a smaller learning environment, one where all students feel supported, respected, and appreciated by their teachers and classmates?

Snowy Peaks serves students who desire a nontraditional, relationship based school, and I think your child could be a great fit here. Our staff recognizes that traditional school structures may not always meet the needs of today’s learners, and we embrace the challenge of providing a unique and innovative program designed to meet the needs of each student.

Some students learn better with more one on one interaction, more self pacing and differentiation, and fewer social distractions. While Summit School District is home to excellent traditional schools, a larger setting is not always the best fit for every student. Snowy Peaks’ small classes, limited to ten to fifteen students, allow our students to thrive in a positive learning community where they build close relationships with teachers and classmates. Because of our small setting, Snowy Peaks is a place where everyone knows your name and where every student, no matter how unique, is accepted and respected.

Our passionate teachers create an individualized education plan for every student and work tirelessly to help each one reach their potential.

We remain deeply committed to the success of our students in the following ways:

I do not know your level of familiarity with Snowy Peaks, but I can assure you that our entire team is committed to helping each child thrive and succeed. It has been my privilege for more than 20 years to serve Summit County’s youth as an English teacher, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and Principal. I have built many relationships with students and families in our community, and I look forward to building one with your child as well.

Snowy Peaks High School Admission Instructions for the 2026-2027 School Year

Applications for the Snowy Peaks 2026-27 school year are open! Students and/or families will join a google classroom where they will complete all application steps during the open enrollment window. This application window closes on April 30, 2026 at 11:59 pm. Applications received after April 30 will be placed on the school's waitlist.

All application steps must be submitted during the application window. Meetings will start with Mr. Smith shortly after April 30.

Step 1: Attend an Information Session

Step 2: Join the Google Classroom

To begin the application process, students and families must join our Google Classroom:

📌 Note: You may be asked to create a Google Account, but you can use any email address for this.

Step 3: Complete Application Tasks

Inside the Google Classroom, you'll complete three tasks:
✅ Fill out the application form
✅ Submit a short video
✅ Request recommendations

Students in grades 7-9 should complete these tasks with adult assistance.
Students in grades 10-12 may complete these tasks independently.

Step 4: Interview & Results

After the selection committee reviews applications, selected families will be contacted via email and text. They will then be asked to schedule an interview with Mr. Smith.
Applications that are not selected will automatically be placed on the waitlist. Don’t fret! We often see spots open up for families on the waitlist over the summer.

Families should be notified of the final results by the end of the school year.

For students on the Waitlist: As spots become available, families will be notified by phone call and/or email.
